I picked up a cool little digital aquarium thermometer today in Maplin of all places .... its got everything you could ever need to manage the temp of your tank , including both maximum and minimum temperature alarms ..... and also comes with loads of spare cable from the unit itself to the underwater probe

It was ( IMO ) very reasonably priced too at only 21 yoyo's

well worth checkin it out if ya have an outlet near you

anyway thats my 2 cents for today

hope its of some use to someone

I find the mercury thermometers to be the most accurate. I bought 3 digital ones a while back. They were all the exact same except the difference between the lowest one the the highest one in the same place in the same tank was 3 degrees.

Are the mercury based ones abit risky however if it breaks in the tank, seeing as mercury is poision to the fish. Are the red spirit type more safe?

The ones I'm using are for aquarium use so they're probably red spirit.

Likewise, yeah they are red spirit. I pop two into my tank and I find them great also.
Will be interesting as I managed to pick up a digital one on ebay, should get it next week. Will see if they match up. Id trust the red spirit ones before the digital though any day.Cheaper too.

I'm a bit of a gadget freak so that's why I origainally opted for the digital ones. However, sometimes, old technology is best.
