Things That Go Bump In The Night !! 8 Months, 1 Week ago
well just before crimbo ( yes i mentioned it , and i'm sorry )lastyear ... i posted a thread about my 2 keyhole cichlids spawning .....

needless to say i was over the moon , but due to circumstances beyond my control at the time , unfortunately the eggs lasted 3 nights till on the fourth morning most of them had turned white and were subsequently eaten ...

Well due to job loss in january i was left no choice but to move home ....

Unfortunately during this move my male keyhole passed away ( R.I.P. )and so began my quest to find another male mature enough to ( fingers crossed )pair with the existing female .

Well last week in AV i picked up a lone male keyhole and brought him home

Displaying happened between him and the female almost immediately , but nothing more .... and to be honest the 2 fish stayed opposite ends of the tank from each other alot of the time ..

So i wake up this morning and go downstairs to feed " The boys " before leaving for work ....

AND WOT DO I FIND !!!!!

Needless to say i'm delighted again ..... so its fingers crossed this time

martin

P.S. apols for vid quality ..... phone was used

they protected the eggs for 3 nights , but unfortunately on the fourth morning most of the eggs had turned white ( again !!! ) and they were eaten ...... i'm putting it down to inexperience on the male's behalf ...

i suppose the hard part is done , in that i have at least got a bonded pair now so fingers crossed it will all kick off again

the angels were much the same story ........ a lovely sized spawn and very well guarded by both parents .....but alas iot was not meant to be and on the 4th morning , I found the parents eating all the eggs ...... strange thing about the angels was that the eggs had not turned white like the keyholes had ....... again , maybe it was just inexperience but at least i can now regard them as a breeding pair !!
