Our visit to Atlantaquaria ...

A group of 10 people gathered up early on Sunday morning to come and visit Atlantaquaria, from top to bottom as one could say!

The tour of the marine and freshwater displays was made very enjoyable and interesting by our very special guide Kevin!
He had equipped himself with a box of goodies which came very handy in getting some of the species to show up on the occasion! The only ones that refused to socialise at all were the cuttlefish babies !

We got to pet a spider crab, a spiny starfish and a much smoother common star fish, while looking at the huge whale skeleton that is on display upstairs. We also saw a 4,800 years old canoe found in the bog around Salthill which is displayed in a tank and will house some fish very soon.

Last but not least, we were introduced in the backstage area of the Aquarium and shown the reserve tanks, the water and air pumps, the quarantine tanks, the filtration/UV systems as well as the fish's private kitchen where their 'a la carte' dinners were being prepared .

After this, we had a nice chat over a cuppa !

Again, I personally and on behalf of the CFKS would like to thank Kevin again for this very enjoyable and constructive Sunday morning. Noel, thanks for coming all the way down from Dublin for this event.
We hope to organise another one of these visits in the winter for these who could not join us today!

Thank you all for coming and participating. Talk soon.
Valerie
