I was recently in Dublin Zoo,,,no smart comments,,it was as a visitor , not a resident...

For the life of me , I cant remember whether it was at the gorilla or orang enclosure..Theres a water feature, pond / lake thingy..
I noticed hundreds of fish in it,,,and have no idea of what they are,,,I asked one of the keeps around and he had no idea either...
Its driving me mad,,,I doubt its heated, so Im assuming they must be cold water fish

has anyone else ever seen these fish,,and any idea of what they are?

I heard they are supposed to be opening an aquarium house in the zoo in the future. I think it was Gerry Evans who mentioned at one of the early LFKS meetings.

Are perch not an olive/green colour? maybe rudd??? dont do much game fishin so only guessin!!!!!!!!

no more pics derek, i was up there to photograph the giraffs! and just noticed them. they must have bred since then as i didnt see hundreds.

I think I may have confused people...I dont actually mean the lake in the Zoo,,,where they keep the flamingos and where the chimp islands r located...

This is IN the Orang or Gorilla enclosure....

they aint the fish I saw,,,
anyway ,,,i guess i shud go up take some pics to post...
Great news if they do put tanks into the Zoo...They should be told to contact some of the expert from here for advice if they do,,,maybe we can all go on a days outing????...
