The next meeting of the Irish Tropical Fish Society will be held on Tuesday the 8th of April in the upstairs meeting room of Rosy O'Gradys Pub, Harolds Cross, Dublin 6 from 8.30 pm




There will be a few fish at this meeting so a brief demonstration on how to take, host and post photographs will be discussed. If you have a camera and want to get a few pointers from other amateurs on how to improve your aquatic photographic skills please bring your camera along.

Remember to charge your batteries and empty the memory card!

Thoroughly enjoyed last nights meeting. Thanks to everyone who brought fish and decided to take part in the very informal fish benching tutorial. Thanks to Phil and Darren for taking the time to judge and provided an overview of the entries (funny how the best fish was owned by one of the people judging). Plus, I would also like to thank Daragh and Darren who supplied the majority of the show tanks. Finally, I would like to thank myself for bringing a lamp without which none of the judging would have been possible.

Denis. Thanks for posting the photo, he looks even better in that than in real life, not sure he came second, but I won't argue

Thanks to Denis, who apart from supplying the much needed light gave some excellent help to members on fish photography and had produced hand-outs for people to take away.

Darragh was also snapping away, so expect some more photos of the fish benched, hopefully including the elusive winner, a large Khuli loach.

Thanks to Phil for judging and explaining how the marks are awarded etc and of course Darren for assisting with selection of the winner

I have to say I really enjoyed it aswell. The judging was really interesting. My knowledge of judging would be little as we have only had 1 show here and then only hayling Island but you are not allowed near the fish when the judging is taking place so you never see what goes on. Thanks Phil and Darren.

Well done darren on the huge Kuli. Fair play to everyone who brought along fish. Its great to see other peoples fish in the flesh.

Denis thanks a million for the handouts and the tutorial it was really good to see something in a practical way especially when it is new and I am not very good yet with the camera. Hopefully with the explanations you gave i will be able to post some better pics in the future. Most importantly though Denis fair play to you for bringing the light as we would have been stumped if we didnt have it.

The paparazzi were in full flow. I think i need glasses after been on the wrong side of a camera. Dark glasses.
Denis you will have to keep me one of those handouts.

The Kuhli came first (73pts) the ram second (66pts) and the Betta third (63pts).
Phil did all the judging. I just sat in to get a better idea of how the judging was done.

I think we would have been lost without the HOT lamp Denis brought. Fair play.
