Well finding getting shrimp v difficult down here in Cork, Im hoping to get 2 tomorrow in the City if I can get there after work. Im cautious about introducing new fish to my tank as I dont want to upset the balance of the tank at present but I think 2 shrimp would be nice too and would also work on some of the algae on the rocks albeit a small amount only.(yes Im aware they would be better in groups but I dont want to have too many of them). Also am I correct in saying these shrimp arent going to start reproducing to beat the band. ie.they may have eggs but they wont hatch right? Would my existing mollies eat them I presume? (The last thing I want is a population boom, would 1 shrimp be better ?)

I don't think you need to worry about a population explosion. If they are Amano shrimp you have nothing to worry about at all, they can not breed in freshwater, the young shrimp must go thru a period in saltwater to develop.
CRS (Crystal Red Shrimp) Zebras (a form of CRS) Chrry shrimp or tiger shrimp can and do breed in freshwater, but not that readily that you will have a problem. Anyway they are so small that 30 or 40 shrimp would hardly add any load to your tank!

Darragh thanks a million, I think the amano shrimp survive for a week before the need for salt occurs so Ill safe from any population explosion as such. Just hope I can the shrimp tomorrow. Also Ive heard that some shrimp go for fry,is this true ? My fry are 2 months old now so they are safe Im guessing.

Not to my knowledge, but I guess they could. Teh Amanos will swim after and catch tetra prima that is floating down, so no reason they could not grab a fry. Maybe some one else has experience of that ???
I have about ten in a two foot tanks where corys have bred, they may have taken some fry, but not so that I would notice.

Well Ive finally managed to locate a place for the shrimp! Going to collect them after work this evening. Will introduce them tonight to the tank. I think they are ghost shrimp.
Anyone ever buy small frogs? I saw yellow/cream type frogs in the pet shop there also. Unusual looking guys.

Yeah my tetras and molly fry would be breakfast, lunch & dinner for these guys I reckon. I think they were dwarf Africian frogs. I'll steer clear of them I think!
