hi every one,was setting up a quarantine tank tonight, half filled a 70 litre tank with water from my main tank, which houses mollies, platys, danios and a couple more small fish, and filled the rest with fresh dechlorinated water, just when i was about to turn out the light i spotted something moving, after a closer look i found what seems to be one platy fry, about 1cm long,i didn't notice any of my platys having babies, thought they were all pregnant at one stage but they're just fat,any idea how old it might be at 1cm in length, its got good
colour and everything
Thanks
Paul

HI Paul, it can be really hard to say as it might be a month or 2 old. It depends on how much food he was getting, (if any), nutrients etc. My 1st batch of guppy fry took over 2 months to grow that big and get colour. Mind you the care I was giving them was not good!!

I was just changing 10 liters of water in my rekord 70 and noticed 11 platy fry in the filter housing. Then noticed others hiding in plants etc. Gonna have to either get rid of the Juwel filter of the live bearer males!
I've got three mollie fry that are a month old and they have been in the tank from day one. Also have two two week old platy fry, bright orange, but there are only two of them left now. None of my guppy fry have survived the week, all been eaten.
