Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

alright kieth,
she is still moaning, its too big , the lights hurting her eyes, the room is wrecked ect, ect.
but im still here ,no bruises, no open wounds and she is not leaving me, so a definite victory:laugh: .how are you getting on with your own tank

hi kev,
at the moment i think ill leave the bottom bare, although i may add a very shallow bed eventually if it starts to bother me.there are a lot of good reasons to leave it bare, nitrates ect. you wont see much of the bottom when im finished anyway, its destined to be packed with lps, with the rest of the tank being sps.

cheers sunbeams,
i was like yourself, once the bug catches you ur fxxxxx, you will never be happy, you will always want to upgrade, and if i ever move to a bigger house im sure ill upgrade again:laugh:

eoin, when is the tank arriving? best of luck with it mate.

hi gally,
the first fish are being delivered and going in on sunday:woohoo:
blonde naso tang
black saddle back clown
regal angel
bicolour angel
cleaner wrasse
cleaner shrimp

here is whats to come over the next 8 weeks
yellow tang
purple tang
shoal tang
white cheek tang
unicorn tang
niger triger
true percula clownx2
4-5 orange anthiasts
4-5 chromis
xlarge mandrain later down the line
fu man chu lionfish:dry:
purple and reg fire fish
racoon buterfly
as for corals
there will be at least 20 sps covering the rock
8-10 lps, hammer ,torch, frogspawn, open brains x3, trumpets, suncorals, foxtrot these will all be cvering the base of the tank. im obviously going to monitor the tangs aggresion towards each other and if the regal angel starts munching corals he will have to go also, at least i can put a few clams in if i do have to get rid of him. i hope to be able to complete the tank by the end of feb, and then i can concentrate on tweaking the colours of the sps and growing big and beutiful sps. well thats the list mate, thanks for the nice comment, ill post pics on sunday of the new arrivals

love scotters, probably down the line as just like the mandrain your tank needs to be well established so there is enough food for him.because i have it barebottom i would need to leave it even longer ,great fish though(i had one in my last tank). stick up a pic of your own tank mate, id love to see it, its nice to get as many ideas as possible when your setting up.
talk soon
paddy

Hi Paddy,

Nice set up, cant wait to see pics and how things are going... By the time you finish yours i will be starting mine, of coarse my tank will be much smaller (280l)... Ive got the tunze auto top up for my new system, so maybe you can share ur thoughts on this gadget... Have you used it before?

Thanks,

Leandro
