Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

it looks good , but would there be any way you could change the substrate to dark or black ? that would really bring out the colours of tank more ..

The cave with the stepping stones up to it is a really cool look ;) a group of rasboras or tetras would be nice. I also agree that black sand/gravel would make the colours pop.

Looking good though mate. Fair play.

thank you all ! I understand your point about the sand and it is a good idea, but now that it is all set, I don't see myself redoing everything just to change it  not yet anyway ^^

I am planning to get a group of Cardinal Tetra next... or something else ;D

Hi Inza and sorr for what i will say.
It's not so bad, but first fill water to the top. You need more plants and tank looks to flat. It's a little bit hard to do it good if tank has two fornt sides. It should be wider but now it's possible as well. And i think that there is not enough sand.

P.S. Jeff is right too.

Looks good with a bit of height to the plants. The cardinals and rummies will add lots of movement in the mid level of the tank and i'd get some bottom feeders like cory's, ottos, loaches something like that ,these will help with the clean up.Get yourself a substrate hoover/cleaner they suck up the dirt from the sand and a magnet cleaner for the glass. Keep on top of the maintenance and the tank will look beautiful.

Stuart.

thank you all for your comments !

the bubble count of co2 is 1.5/sec and the lighting system is taken care by 2x28w juwel day, 1x24w juwel nature and 1x24w juwel colour, all t5. Both 24w tubes are running 10h/day and the 2 28w are running for 8h/day.

don't know why, everything grows apart the Xmass moss...
