Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Do you mean whether the timer model is good or not? Its not hard to set if you have a manual/instruction sheet NORMALLY.

But no I never used this timer before.

I threw out the timer, went for the €1 manual timers in B&Q instead, at least I could get them to come on and off when I wanted without a degree in programming. I am nearly sure I still have the instructions, I will check tomorrow and let you know.

-1 on the manuals, i find mine jump ahead around 30mins every week. digitals have battery backup too if the power is cut, got a 3 pack from argos but had 1 not function, the manager swapped it for a new one

I had some of them before and ended up using them as bin fillers.
They came with no instructions and after a few hours of frustratingly fiddling with one i gave up.

the instructions are on the buttons, they are labelled. if they are like mine, as far as i remember you have to hold down the timer button and press the minute or hour button to set the time, then press the week button to set the day/s or full week you want the timer to repeat on. release, then press timer button again to select off time and repeat how to set again. the screen should show if its setting the on or off and how many days the timing is selected. same goes for the time, hold the clock timer button and set
i find its good to set my siesta, i can alternate which tank is on or off while i'm working, but all tank are on before work and after work but all have 9hrs light, with a siesta to break it up

Ok mate 1st thing u need to do is set the time when u see clock on the bottom left corner press set u have to set day time etc then press set then that's done.

Then u need to set ur timer press down twice u will see the 20 on the left side this is the amount of on and off settings u can put in. Ok first thing is set the day u want so pick or u can pick all the days if needs be. Then pick ur time this is all done by the up and down keys then press set then up or down to the setting u want iel on and off

The 3rd thing to remember is the m/a button switches between on off and auto

This guide is a bit rough and basic but up it helps

Amazing what other crap I found, but no luck with the instructions, but it looks like previous poster has it sorted.
