Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Would you believe it ?????

My "lovely" wife bought me an early Christmas present today. A JBL pro flora m602 no less !!

Problem is......as its a Christmas present I would be "spoiling the surprise" if I were to set it up now.

So........after getting back from Maidenhead after going down to get MY Christmas present for myself (great price Rob btw), she sent me to the shop for wrapping paper for MY PRESENT. All I was short of doing was wrapping it myself !!

Easycarbo in your corn flakes tomorrow my dear !!

Beat her to it, bought the Tickets months ago.

Paddy, I don't have any experience with them but Dave in Kinsealy has been using a similar kit and the results are great, you could give him a shout about it.

I have one set up on my tank Paddy, without the CO2/pH tester though. I like it, nice and simple set up. I found the 500g cylinder too small, although that will depend on the size of your tank. I got a couple of fire extinguishers. I would recommend a spare one, as ya can have one going while your getting the other filled. Ya can pick up one pretty cheap from a company that does refiles. There is one in cookstown industrial estate in Tallaght if your close to Dublin..

I was tempted to whip out the ntl connection so she couldn't watch x factor but I have to admit "I'm Paddy and I'm an x factor addict".

Don't tell anyone though Dar. I'm a closet x factor fan !

and you out of the house lol, you better not touch that christmas present or make any silly threats you get advised to do by some one online with the signature "Jesus of Nazareth D.24" and get her something spectacular for christmas, something like a dyson hoover or something to make her life easier, there is a place having a sale on top of the range irons with a free ironing board (they love ironing, they are always at it)

she'l love you for it but you be just as spiteful and dont let her open it till christmas, actually break the current iron 3 days in advance, that way she will have loads of fun christmas day ironing while you tamper with the fish in peace, i'm thinking of getting my missus a fishing rod, my one is old and out of date (the rod that is) and i'm thinking of taking it back up in the new year, and fingers crossed she gets me the dam filter i wanted, i left the page open online over my birthday everyday for a month and she didn't get the hint. either a fishing rod or electro therapy sessions, nothing says i love you more than mental stimulation
