Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hey,
I just got home from my LFS around an hour ago with an Elefant fish, Angel and a Siamese, everything was going grand before my Red Claw started to get nosie, she came out and started following the new fish especialy the Siamese Fighter who was also curious of her, I didnt take much notice as when I introduced the Sharks the same thing happened, I was sitting down watching the Siamese since they are one of my favorite fish when the Red Claw came over and literaly cut it in half and im serious 2 pieces!!! AND CONTINUED TO EAT IT!!!
Im not getting rid of the crayfish as this is the first ime it has happened in 7 monthsand I think its an amazing invert and im hoping to breed them. And it has done fine with all my other fish and some tetras and tiger barbs i used to have. so if anyone has expieriance with these inverts, do ye know if they get more aggresive with age??
Thanks
Blake

.... hehe bad idea to put siemese fighter(They love to eat em) I did the same thing when i had a crayfish;) your not the only one!! your crayfish hasnt done this in 7 months... im sure its tripled in size...?

I really think you should stop buying fish for the moment...
Your crayfish will try to eat any fish you put in the tank.. my old one would attack my hand, pretty painful!! If you want to keep and try breed them use seperate tank... they get very big... and that means their able to catch bigger fish...

Also your oscar when he gets bigger will happily eat your fish... people use crayfish as live food for em...

Angel fish is very timid and will not go with your oscar... you can only really Mix tough fish with oscars... There big bullies/ little puppies:P !!

How big is your tank...?

Dont get me wrong im all for mixing fish, and having wierd combinations... but urs wont work... Im sure other people will also tell you this..!

Ya i wont be buying anymore soon
Ya shes after growing alot but has slowed in the last few months, I have a rio 180 and ive had the Oscar for 5 months and he hasnt grown a bit....
Loads of people are telling me that the fish wont work together but they seem fine and thats the only faitality ive had in ages, the crayfish are generaly fine but the Fighter braught out their "wildside" and the last time the oscar ate a fish was when i had sissor tails and cherry barbs:) But generaly the fish get on fine and dont fight atall, besides the featherfin and cichlid

Thanks

Blake
