Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I wasn't sure were to post this.
I found some messages in my trash can that i hadn't read. When i went to restore them to read them i couldn't find them. They weren't in my inbox. Where do the restored messages go?

In theory, the system restores the message to where it was deleted from. ie. to your inbox if you had trashed it from your inbox. I tested it briefly and it worked.
If you are still having difficulties, let me know.

Talk later.

Hi Val
It's any way that I can export all my messages to word or notebook or any other software on a computer?

Hi,

I have enabled the emailing functionality from the Archive section (it is not available for the Inbox/Outbox).

Archive your message, select it by ticking the message you want to send to yourself by email and click on the little envelope with a diskette icon at the bottom left of the message list. This will email your message to the email address you have set up in your profile.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Valerie

Thanks.

Hi guys another PM problem that I have encountered today.

I was trying to send a pm today and it would appear that the forum is logging me out after a few minutes, so when I hit send for the pm it tells me you are not logged in and the message dissappears!! wouldnt mind but it was an important message as well and I actually thought I had sent it until I double checked my outbox later on this evening and discovered it wasnt there, so I resent the message and the same thing happened again aargh!! Third time lucky.

Zig,

Someone else mentioned this had happened to them.
I'll get Darragh to check this one out.
IME, when typing up an important and long message, I tend to "select all" and "copy" my reply before hitting the send button. If anything happens in the transmission, I can always return back to the reply and "paste". :)

By the way, just a question Zig : Do you have the "Remember Me" checked when you log on ? Thanks - Valerie

Hiya Valerie

Yes a good idea to copy and paste, I will do that in future. I have the "Remember me" box unchecked it seems to come up that way by default after the recent upgrade, maybe thats the reason it keeps logging me out. I will tick that box and maybe that will solve the problem.

Thanks for your help
