Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi Juan,

Welcome to the forum.
Firstly nice aquarium.

Most of the retailers in Dublin get their stock directly from Tropica
and Tropica have it : www.tropica.com/productcard_1.asp?id=049B

So best bet would be to ring and order some, might take 2 weeks
but try ringing Fintastic Aquatics or Wackers and ordering some.

All the best

Mick

thanks you mick for the information !!!

I already have the adress and telephone of Wackers, but I don´t have their email. Do you have the information (adress, phone or email) of the other one \"Fintastic Aquatics\" ?

Thanks again !

Hi juan

Wackers Superstore on the Long mile Road Dublin 12 (behind Aldi supermarket) have this plant in stock atm. They had several pots in stock 2 days ago which all looked very healthy IMO.

They also had lots of other good plants you may be interested in as well, all Tropica brand so good quality stock. Heres a map of the location of the store, a luas stop is just up the road if you use public transport, its an excellent store anyway, worth a visit.

This link brings up a picture just click the map tab to get a normal map view of where it is.

Best of luck in your quest, btw this can be a difficult plant for some.

Here's the link

Thank you very much Zig for the information!!!

I know it’s a difficult plant that’s why I wanted!!! jejeje

Do you think it would be damaged with a 16 hours flight?
Do you remember how much it costs ?

Bye !

16 hours of light would be too much for most any plant Juan, 9-10 hours max is plenty. More light won't do much for you except help with the algae maybe:(

I don't know how much the plant was, at a guess it was probably around ¬7 per pot. I would only buy a couple at first to see how you get on with it.

I will be receiving two pots of utricularia graminifolia next week. I guess they will arrive a little damaged after a 16 hours flight.

I was wondering how is the best way to received the plants: Should I plant it right away ? Do I put in the general aquarium or in a solo aquarium ?? Submerged ??

thanks !

I send my friend last week to Wackers and they told him that they didn’t have the plant available. I don’t know why they treat him a little indifferent. He left the shop a little upset.

Anyway I will try again to buy the plant in January.

I also found a local utricularia. I am trying to grow it.

Thanks again for the information!

Juan
