Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Marine Fish/Inverts For Sale - General Query

Mods, feel free to move if this shouldn't be here.

I'm just curious to know if there's a demand here for Marine fish/inverts etc?

I'm considering changing back to my fishkeeping first love, an Amazon biotope aquarium. As much as I enjoy Marines I miss the shoals of Tetras, plants, bog oak etc. Anyway I'd only really consider the change if I thought I could get rid of all my Marine animals. No point getting rid of all the fish and being stuck with a couple of Sea Urchins etc.

Alan,
to try to help your post along I have moved it to Marine Misc and added to the title, but if it doesn't suit you please change it back.

Would say there would be no problem getting rid of your marine stock, would be interested in what you had myself. If you are left with anything i,m sure you could trade them back to a lfs for freshwater stock or dry goods.
Put your list up and see what interest there is, you have my nose twitching now to see what you have:laugh:

I would be intertested in a few pieces if you were sell up, the shrimp and the snails and maybe the lemonpeel. You should have no problems getting rid if the corals, i see lads on the prowl for them all the time on the forums.

Where are you based

I'll take a few photos if I decide to sell. My camera is currently away on holidays with my sister! At the moment I've had a fair bit of interest in some stuff but not all. Thats my worry, I don't want to be stuck with some items, it's an all or nothing situation!

Here's a full tank shot from a while back,

(The Clown Fish is not for sale, he's being rehomed, he's nearly 15 so it's like a family pet at this stage!)

Yep I'll post pics when I can.

A rough guide to price off the top of my head. Please remember that I haven't decided yet if I'm selling, I'm just seeing what the interest is like. It's a bit daft but as I said already I don't want to be stuck with anything.

1 Regal Tang (4 inch approx) €35
1 Royal Gramma €20
3 Bangai Cardinalfish €20
9 Green Chromis €10 (possible discount for all 9, maybe €75)
1 Lemonpeel Angel €30

2 Cleaner shrimp €30 for the 2
1 long spined Sea Urchin €20
1 pin cusion Sea Urchin €15
1 Brittle Star (Pink) €20
1 Sand Shifting Star €15
Turbo snails + Hermit Crabs (Red, Blue and Brown) I'll see how many I have and sell them all together at a decent price.

Corals, there's about 5 of 6 pieces. It's hard to really put a price on some of them as they've spread and they might slpit when getting removed. The Mushrooms and Toadstoll corals would probably be €25 - €30
