Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi guys ,
just wondering is there anyone who would like to order replacement parts from Hagen UK online ?
Im after a single power head seal , and postage would cost me way more than the actual product ..so if anyone is interested please let me know .
Thanks AB

AB, when i send for items from the UK I always check their postage price to Northern Ireland - quite often it's an awful lot less expensive than to here.
I'm registered with this outfit (have been for as long as they've been doing the service):
www.parcelmotel.com/index.html
They're very good as long as you have a collection unit nearby (mine's about 20 miles away) and they will charge you an additional €3.50 to deliver to your chosen one.
I'm making heavy going of this, but if you check out their website all becomes much clearer.

+1 for parcel motel. It's great, I use it a lot for work.

Most time free shipping within uk so northern Ireland counts then the forward to your designated parcel motel. You get a text put in your code and pick it up. Easy! And my closest one is at a petrol station so is open 24 hours.

Thank you John ,it looks like a great option for me - almost 10 euros less than "normal" way :) which is very good indeed . Might give it a go .

Would you consider ordering the 2 seals Since you are already registered with this crowd ,and we can share any additional costs ?
Cheers

AB, before you go ahead and order direct it might be worth contacting Kevin at Underwater World, Limerick - they are Forum Sponsors and I know he holds quite a lot of Hagen/Fluval spares like as not if he has what you're looking for he'll pop it into the post for you.

quick search on Ebay and there's a seal for £4.70 (euro 5.50 i'd guess) and free postage within the UK........So by using Parcel Motel at Euro 3.50 it would come to roughly euro 9.00........seems reasonable enough!!
