Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi all,my FX6 decided to not go back on this evening after I plugged it out for a water change.......I plugged it into a different socket, changed fuse etc. but still dead..........the warranty is for three years but when I peeled off what I thought was the invoice stuck to the box it came in it appears it's not an invoice but just folded paper with my address on it as I bought it online....now after finding a video I took of it working when I got it I now know i bought it in april 2014 so it's still under warranty........so is there any way I can get proof of purchase?.....I bought it from Aquatic village online but I couldn't find any record of the purchase on there site when I logged in to it............Now the last couple of times I have dealt with AQuatic village verbally the experience as a lot of people know themselves was difficult to say the least so I would really like to have proof of purchase before I ring them tomorrow so any help much appreciated.

If you paid for it with either a debit or credit card you will be able to trace the payment date on your on line banking and then print a statement out for the period

that warranty is going to be with the manufacturer and not the shop.
Give the bank a buzz tomorrow as they have to keep all those statements.

Your warranty is with the person you paid your money too, not the manufacturer of the item , after all you didn't pay them , under consumer law your contract of sale is with whoever you paid for an item or service . In your case aquatic village . Once you have been sorted it would be up to the aquatic village in turn to get his supplier to sort him out . I have know Ian in aquatic village since he started over 20 years ago and have always found him keen to help

Incidentally, I am with ulster bank ,and on line I can trace any transaction by going into acrive on the website if I have as you do the month the transaction was done . It's worth a try , if you ring your bank they will no doubt change you to post you out a statement which will of course take a few days . Its just a thought

Here is something about fluval for you :)

I had an issue with my LEDs on my M60 tank. The switch stopped working on it. Went along after fixing myself taught, well its in warranty why not ring.

Took ages for find a number for them lol but when i did, best customer service ever. They asked what the problem was, asked what i wanted, only the switch part as the rest was fine, they asked for my address and posted it straight out to me, had it 2 days later from England, carrier to my door :) didnt need proof of purchase or anything lol, also got a replacement impeller for my return a couple of weeks later as well, no problem.
