Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Iv recently had trouble with my juwel filter and im now thinking i need to upgrade to an external. Iv Read good reviews about the Tetratec Ex700 and just wondering if any of you have this filter,how it runs and what price you paid for it. I havent began to check prices in the shops yet but from what i see on the net there around 80 euro???

Hi Gerry,

I have a ex700 i didnt buy it tho i got it 2nd hand wit a rio300 i bought they are noisey enough for the size of them.
Why dont you check out the JBL E900 one of the lads bought 2 of them and they are silent and to me seem better quality than the tetra tec i think they run from about 70 to 90 euro.

stephen

Hi Gerry

I find the Tetratec filters very good. I did a first impressions write up about a year ago when I got an EX-600, and your post here has prompted me to update it.

Since then Ive bought a second EX-600 and an EX-400 which are in use on 3 seperate tanks.

Andy in Aquarium Solutions got the EX-600 for me. I got the 400 online.

I dont know if I'm allowed to link my review here or not, so Ive sent you a PM.

Oh I get that, My one says "Private Messages no new" :P
Perhaps I should have made myself clearer.

What I meant was;
Where there is a thread ongoing and multiple people discussing a subject, one person says "PM sent," and all those that are participating in the discussion wonder who the PM was meant for.
Was it meant for me and I never got it kind of thing... if you get me.
.. just to be clear its not just this site, its the whole internets;

Anyway back onto the topic

I cant recommend tetratec enough. Very very quiet and fantastically simple to set up and maintain.
