Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

OK...here's the deal. I don't know how many know, but I amt the past Chairman and currently on the board of trustees for the American Cichlid Association. For years international membership to the club was $45 US. I lobbied hard a couple years ago to create an all electronic membership to the club at a crazy price.
Here's what you get for $15 US:
You become a member of the American Cichlid Association with access to the members only section. Many of the countries top hobbyists frequent the forum. Great place for information.
For this membership you have access to the clubs publication, the Buntbarsche Bulletin. Quality publication with great articles on all things cichlid. You also get access to all of the past issues of the magazine...some dating back to 1966. A search feature for the publication let's you look for articles by species, author or title.
And I recently cut a deal with Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine. All members get a one year FREE digital subscription to their monthly publication.
If you are interested in joining the club, we would love to have some of our mates from Ireland as members. If you join, please send me a PM so I can hook you up with a membership (I'm the site admin). Here's the link to the association: wwww.cichlid.org
Peace,
Mo

Hi Mo,
I'd be interested but unfortunately my broadband is rubbish. If I take out the full membership, presumably I get all the access you mentioned, but with hardcopy of the magazine?
Also - does the $45 cover the international postage?
Thanks,
Jim

$45 will get you a mailed hard copy of the magazine. The electronic membership is the way to go if you can get around the connection issue.

Folks,
had to make mention of this - I finally got the international electronic membership.
Best tenner I ever spent. Their publication, Buntbarsche bulletin is superb - articles by konings, Lamboj, Mo himself and many more. Everything from practical projects on how to build a fish room to serious scientific papers.
If you're into your cichlids, this is superb - $15 is only about €10, only half the price of a pack of polyfilter!
