Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Quality pics and setup, well done!I like that mixture of fish, blue and yellow is always a winner in my book. How many more fish do you think you will put in,be honest now, even though you probably think it is overstocked we all try to squeeze some more in??

Cheers Chris,

There are 23 fish in there at the moment which I think must be close to its limit.. Of course I would like to add more...

The tank is 200 litres but I have the juwel internal and 2 externals running on it so its filtering at about 600 litres so maybe I can squeeze another few.

Cheers guys,

Things are generally peaceful alright.
Its only new introductions that get a bit freaked out so I've started covering the tank with a duvet overnight straight after intoducing a new fish.

Yeah Dave - thanks for sorting me out with those.
Still some left over but I'll find a use for them at some stage!

Pity about the nasty centipedes and spiders that were in them from being out in the sun [shudder].. ;)

Holger - as 'The Borg' ( www.ahajokes.com/cartoon/borg.jpg ) in Star Trek say:
'You must comply. Resistence is futile' ;)

lol - fish tanks & star trek references on the same page - its the stuff of Nerds dreams

Oh God, my wife calls us 'Fishy Nerds'.

Is that what I am now? A fish nerd?

Only a fish nerd could have been as excited as me to pick up a school of 26 black widow tetras today!

P.s. I know a shop selling black widows for a euro each if interested?

Most of them never got to the fish, they ended up running around my kitchen... I did see the fish mopping up some woodlice though!

1€ a fish?
Good price.
I think I got twenty for 1.65 a piece in the end, I asked for twenty but sure I cleaned out his tank and got 6 free.

The little hardware in Skerries, the lad there is really trying to clean the place up. Still quite a few dead fish and they insist on selling 'pseudo cichlids' which are actually mixed african fry. Where I got my two Lombardoi if you remember.

But still he seems like a decent sort so i'll give them a second chance.
Might pop by there on friday for their new delivery.
See what they get.

Sorry - yes the fish at a Euro a pop.
They had glowlights too & some other mixed tetras for a Euro.
Not sure what's left but there were plenty last time I was there.
