Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Decco, I go absent for a few days after the ESB bill arroves, I am going to have to invest in some insulation before the Winter, or is that what we are having now.
Yes there is one Hoplo, he appears at the very beginning and again later. Most of the footage is from main two community tanks a Rio 450 and Rio 180, there are lots of odd corys and plecs in each. The latter part is some quick clips of other tanks. Three young L046 (Zebra plecs) even made a cameo appearance, muct to my surprise, they don't like you hanging around in front of their tank with the big light on :?
Cheers Derek, must count the number of species sometime, must be about 25 at this stage.

I could name almost all of your fish in there except the big catfish ( think it is some sort of giraffe nose ??? ) :?
And the bottom feeders that have the same markings as the clown loach.

You have a great collection mate. 8)
How many tanks do you have?

Forgot to answer this bit last night, I usually use youtube, but I coul dnot get this video under the 100mb limit, although it was under twen minutes. I found with google you can go above 100mb but you must use there desktop loader software (free and quick to install) instead of uploading directly, took about two hours to upload (longer than youtube would take) and about an hour to approve (much shorter than youtube). SO I am happy with Google Video - so far.

Great video Daragh some very nice looking tanks you have there, could you give a guesstimate as to how many litres of tanks you have running atm?
Hi Peter, often wondered that, but never got around to counting so I just did it, the capacity of all the tanks running that have fish in them is 2718 litres! Tanks with no fish currently amount to 633 litres and a pond of about 9000 litres. Just don't ask me to count the fish!
Sorry about that Anto, it is still working for me and the count has increased so it seems to be still available for others. Pity you can't see it, a few of your cast offs

The black plec with the spots is well worth his ESB bill, as he is truely a tropical looking fish.
That would be a ecumenical matter!!!

The picture quality is the best I have seen, wether its the frames per second are higher than normal?

I have no idea about what way the video ended up as I ran it true Windows movie maker and adobe vidoe elements with different setting to try and get it fit on youtube and ended up having to use Google in the end. I think it was shot at 29 fps and converted to 25, I must be getting old as all this techie stuff means nothing to me anymore, I used to be a gizmo buff but no more

I reckon you are refering to the snowball, there are two, the biggest used to be Anthonys and there is a little guy too. Them and the gold nuggest, which didn't feature are great lookers, but the nicest plecos I have apart from the Zebras of course also did not feature, the adonis and scarlet tail leopard, but fantastic looking but still very small.
