Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

thanks S180de. the alge disaster i still dont know what happend to be honest. it was when i was away for 2 weeks.that is what i came back to. i can only put it down to the auto feeder in some way and caused ammonia spike, lost all 5 ottos and 4 neons due to it but all others came through it.lucky to say the least.
the GW was down to indirect light from the window which i thought was ok but since i covered the tank during the day i dont have a problem. i couldnt even dose TPNL(old tmg) with out getting cloud which then turned to GW within 24/48 hrs, it was a nightmare to say the least. but happy to say its a pleausure now to sit back and watch the fish loving it.

Post edited by: Mr Algae, at: 2007/08/21 15:20

thanks Acara. as you well know it started with NOT cleaning my (bio)balls:laugh: i can and do thank every one who helped with suggsestions and advce to how to solve the problem at the start but 99% of the problem was down to light getting at the tank during the day. just got me a new nikon D40 camera so messing about with it and the settings.

Nice tank, well done. Just one quick question, do the angels leave your shrimp in peace? When I had angels they used to hunt in packs for any shrimp I put into the tank. Surprisingly my discus don't but started to have a go at my glowlights so that I had to move them to a different tank

thanks. to be honest i dont have any problems with any of them they all seem to get on just fine. the shrimp can more often than not be on top of the wood best part of the day and even feed in the grass side by side i havent seen any problems. even the neons dont have a bother with the angels although the angels were put in when the neons were 12mths old and not babies.
