Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Very nice photos and a better camera than mine, I see you have some plants, how are they getting on with the fish? I ran a long term experiment with java fern with negative results, now I am repeating it with java fern, on malawi tanks is in decline the other so so, I need more time to see if it takes.

That would be a ecumenical matter!!!

Great photo's garped.
The tang. killifish (pic 5) looks great.
They look amazing when the light catches them right. The blue and yellow really stands out.
I have never kept tanganyikan's (spelling)and have a soft spot for killifish so just a few questions.
How boisterous do you find him with his tank mates?
Is he hyper compared to his tank-mates?

Darren.

Excellent photos. I was wondering about the killi in No 5 aswell, do you just keep a single specimen or a group?

Thanks Derek hoping the male and female breed for me soon!

Fr Jack:
Have Java Fern in the tank and it seems to be coming on great this time around had it in before but did nt do that good in the tank. There are also so Onion Bulb plants in there as well.

Cathaloc2:
The Frontosa in pic 7 & 9 are Blue Mpimbwe the one s in pic 9 are juvenile s the one in pic 7 is my female, the picture s dont relly do them justice the bule in them is a lot deeper in the right light they look great the male is a bit camera shy could nt get a picture of him kept hiding.

Platty 252:
They are hyper alright there are nine of them altogether in the tank and they shoal around together they dont bother any of the other fish in the tank they are in with young black calvus, gombi, and candopunctatus.

Thanks Gareth.

brilliant pictures, i really like the look of the black and white striped fish in the group photo. I'll look up frontosa and see if I can get some for my tank.

Nice set of pictures, its difficult to get a decent snap in focus without using a flash. Unless of course the subject being photographed is perfectly still. What type of camera are you using? Is it possible to change the ISO settings?

Lead me not into temptation, For I can find it myself!
