Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Axelrodi dont always have a clear dorsal fin, we have brought them in from Colombia (rio meta/orinoco area) and some do others dont!!! Could also be a C number, where did you get them?

Yeh could be, if you could find out where they came from or if wild what country/area this would help, Daragh or Acara will prob. know or have a good idea!!! I would still say axelrodi (you can get variants depending where they were caught!) as CW nos are not often seen, not in Ireland anyway, unless the store imports their own fish, most wholesalers \"wouldnt bother\" with them as they are not commercially viable/unlikely to be bought by shops!

Any chance of a side on shot, I would need to see the head shape too, but for the moment my money is on CW021 and not axelrodi, axelrodi although that the same main colour patern they usually have additional small balck markings above and below the main central black band. It is also possible that cw021 is a variation of axelrodi, in which case you do have axelrodi - that's the problem with corys, sometime very hard to ID accurately.

Whatever they are they look good clean healthy fish.

My money would be on Axelrodi. There are several different varieties, some do have the black dorsal fin, some have 1,2 or 3 stripes down the body.
It does look like a CW021,but agree with what Drew said about their availability.Having said that,I wouldnt discount the idea that some could've come in mis-labelled,as often happens.Corys are notoriously hard to identify at times.I saw what I think is a C.rabauti in with some C.aenus(very common bronze cory) at an LFS last weekend.
I'll let Daragh and JohnH give their opinion now.Whatever they are they're a nice fish,I only have 1 Axelrodi, but he's a great character,I hope to get more.I saw 4 or 5 in an LFS the other day,but they were in rag order,I wouldn't touch them.

Dave.

always on the lookout for interesting corys.pm me if you know off any!

I adjusted the levels to make the photo a bit clearer, I am not so sure it has the body shape for CW021, so there is only one thing to do, ask on Coryworld, I will post this photo and get back with their reply.

CW021 confirmed by a cory expert in Norway, if anyone else comes along with another suggestion I will let you know, but I think you can take it as correct.

Interesting stock for a Mayo fish shop :-)
