Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Pterophyllum leopoldi - some new photos

I have not photograghed these guys for a while, so here goes. Unfortunately it was a bad idea to give them brine shrimp to encourage them out in the open as all the photos are now spotty  I will take them again without the BBS sometime.

There tank - recently replanted.

Wild leopoldi angels. They share their tanks with 4 semi adult L066 cats and a large family of Apistogramma Cacatoides, the female of which I think is responsible for the marks on their sides, she is very protective of her young. There are also some guppies that grew up from fry and the leopoldi's did not eat them!

They have grown really well since your last photos. The L66 doesn't seem to be shy at all.
The extra plants look great. Keep on clicking.

CO2, what's that?? ;-)

No I just use brown stuff in a bottle from Tropica, when I remember and pull out the dead ones and replace every so often. Me and plants don't get on.

The anels are growing ok, but I think I will have to remove the apistos. They keep breeding and the female really objects to the angels coming anywhere near, no one told her she is only one tenth the size of them :-)

Those particularly L066 are very brave, out all the time. I added two caves yesterday, just in case - but I think they are still too young.

Something has gone wrong, because although the thread heading is correct, it says it is in Livebearer section and of course it is not.

Not sure what's going on. The gremlins are about!

I had intended a small modicum of 'sarcasm' there - although I don't think Robbie Williams is anywhere near to being the worst of the current pop idols I most certainly wouldn't be listening to any of his tunes out of choice...could anyone make any suggestions for top contender (of being the worst of the current mob)?

and...Valerie:

\"I couldn't Take That\"

That's very clever, you could get a job on any one of the UK tabloid 'news'papers (or even Practical Fishkeeping) - they love clever play-on-word \"journalism\"...

OK, so Robbie Williams was not my best choice, but with limited MP3's to scan for lenght to match video and some association however weak with Angelfish, it won the day. I never liked Take That despite wide musical tastes, but RW solo was never \"that\" bad, his Albert Hall swing thing was ok. Mickey your Eurythmics suggestion would have been better ok, love Annie Lennox.

For a total change of mood I used The Animals on the next video I uploaded
