Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Well folks, haven't been on here in ages due to not having the net. Set up this tank recently as a SE Asian-ish setup:P . Going well so far with loads of tricks! Haven't lost any fish yet with a good bit of stocking left to do! I also a few other tanks to set up and a small tank in the bedroom that I use as a bedside lamp. Thinking of putting in a bay of tanks if I can find somewhere for them to go. I'll put up some decent photos soon...

Cheers lads,
Its a juwel rock terrace... they look cat IMO but they do the job, they cryptocoryne wendti tropica have already covered it up thanks to the fertilizer. i've got a bit more planting to do and I've got CO2 on the way in about 10 weeks.
The valis and crimun have died off a bit prob due to to high a ph but other stuff has flourished especially the cryptocoryne parva which has doubled in a month of so.
I've got a few more bits and bobs to do but I've been too busy with work to do much more with it.

Rory

by the way it has 3 pearl gouramis, 15 rasbora hengeli, 8 tiger barbs (swore i'd never have them! ), 2 horse face loaches, and 5 stow aways in the form of my girlfriends homeless 3 rosy barbs and 2 WCMM.

Theres an astonishing balance in the tank despite the species... the rosies think they are tigers and the minnows pretend to be hengeli! :woohoo:

Here's an idea of how much the plants have filled out in a few weeks, especially the crypts on the terrace. The valis is at the end of its days though... ph too high.
Thinking of stripping this down soon to put in a Back to Nature background but before I do I'll get my photographer mate over to do a proper job on the pics... I don't even have a camera apart from my phone.
