Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi Mark.

Thanks, the blue fella is, by all accounts, a Nudibranch, apparently a difficult to keep member of the marine got to haves. Not mine I might add.

It looks like a cross between a matador and a slug :)

Hi,

Yep, them's the Guys, 20 of them, nervous little fellas but worth getting, I was wondering what Tank mates would entice them to become more visible.

I have some sparkling Gourami but they are hiding more than the Rasboras/Danio.

I have never kept these but i dont think there is anything you can add to the tank to make them come out more.
20 is a good number to have. If you only had 6 or so you would probably see less of them.
I dont know how long you have them but maybe given time they will settle a bit more and come out more often.

sparkling Gourami do hide a lot amongst plants near the surface. It dosent matter how many you have they will still behave this way.

Hi again,

I agree totally, I have the Tank in a quiet room and as Arabu says, like Discus, if they are in a busy area, they are active, due to being accustomed to traffic but where they are and what they are, I think they will stay timid. They are so cool to watch like a little Humming Bird, darting about. I feed them Rotifers, micro foods and fry food.

Hmm, now you see..... that's the side that I cleaned,
I'll take a few pics and post them, it's a 75 Liter Tank.
External cannister, no co2 yet, I have a Hydor co2 system
with a fire Extinguisher and Solenoid but am dosing with
excel at the moment.

You won't believe this, I changed the t5 bulbs that came with the Tank, I was disappointed, the originals were brighter, the new ones are aqua glo t5 8 watt bulbs, more reds etc, well, I couldn't believe what happened, I walked out in a mood and came back later, every single Fish was out, grazing, mixing it up etc, I'm gobsmacked!.
