Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Do you only keep this for fish photos? Wasn't sure where to post. Feel free to move it if it should be somewhere else.

I had the opportunity to day to photograph a large collection of some poisonous reptiles....snakes and lizards. I also got some non-poisonous...and pretty unique images. The guy breeds snakes. I ham going back to photograph some of the rare snakes that he has....some pretty wild stuff. I shot a bunch of stuff today. Here's a sampling.

Bearded Dragons...gotta tell you, if I ever go all "snake and lizard" this is one I would get. Awesome animals.

The Gaboon Viper...longest fangs and more total venom than any other poisonous snake.

LOVE this photo of the Diamond Back Rattler. He was striking the glass just prior and after I set the camera I missed one. It's all timing...guessing just before the fangs...

...or tongue comes out. This is a very large Tegu Lizard...3' I have several other nice head shots and one more of the tongue which I will post later.

Check out this Monacled Cobra! They finally moved it out into the light for me and he hooded once...but not in the right place in the light. Gotta love the head shot.

Last one for now...Gila Monster. I waited the LONGEST for this photo. He just wasn't moving.

Outstanding pictures, the "tounge" is particularly good. Makes me miss my reptile keeping days.

Thanks for sharing!

Great photos and they all look like they are kept in great enclosures, very natural looking, particularly the diamond back.

More photos.

Very large Ball Python. One thing I liked about photographing the herps was that they were very curious about the flash units....either freezing in anticipation...or exploring like this guy.

Iguana??...how about green lizard.

Series of the Bearded Dragon photos.

Long shot of the Gaboon Viper...didn't move an inch for the entire time I was there.

More of the Monacled Cobra

The "other" Tegu Tongue Shot

Cool close up of the skin.

More to come.

The first pic (Ball Python) is a Burmese Python.

The Iguana (Green lizard) is a Chinese Water Dragon.

Very nice photos.
I have kept lot of different reptiles of the last 10 years but i have never kept any venomous reptiles.

The Gaboon Vipers are stunning at full size.

Thanks for the clarification. The only thing I know for sure is that they aren't cichlids. LOL
