Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

New Era Tropical Grazer was created by JohnH (John)
Last weekend I was given a container of this New Era Tropical Grazer to try out. So, that's what I did.
The concept is quite simple really, with the pre-shaped rings of food comes a plastic sucker which sticks onto the Aquarium glass inside. The food ring sits on the 'shaft' of the sucker and is held in place by a sort of plastic 'rivet', for want of a better word.
The illustration on the food container show this better than I could hope to describe it...
Here are a few snaps I took of the fish in one of my 'growout' tanks for small Cichlids (all manner of odds and ends in there but as you can see, they liked the Grazer very much!
And a couple looking in from the end of the tank:
As you can see, the fish seem to love it so I would safely recommend it for both Cichlids and general Fish as well. Oh, and by the way - all my Corys loved it as well (none in this tank).
A little dear at €11.99 but as an occasional 'treat' I would say it will go a long way before you would need to be buying a replacement. 110 gr gives around 30 food rings but a word of warning - I have used New Era foods before and found that, unless the top was tightly replaced it did tend to dry out (New Era foods are very slightly moist when first opened and I have found they appeal more to the Fish in this condition than when they fully dry out.
So, a 'thumbs up' from me for this (and the other New Era foods as well).
John
(I have to quickly add that, although given this sample to review I have no connection with New Era foods other than that I like using them).

Good intro to the product!

I would agree, hence why I suggested it be used as an 'occasional' treat. I could never afford to consider using it exclusively - I'd be in the 'Poor-house' within a week!!!

Maybe if you gave your fish a couple of 'blank days' they might have a further look at a fresh ring of the food?

I do agree, any review would really have to be a totally forthright one - 'warts and all' so let's see if we get any 'takers'.
Great suggestion.
