Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

The section facilitates the sale of items by its members ; moderators/administrators cannot be held responsible for any items being sold on this site or for any exchanges/correspondence between users.
  1. This section is for Fish and fish related products only (This includes Filters/Powerdheads/Tanks/Rock/Skimmers etc., Amphibians and related items).

    Camera/Video Equipment is also accepted from existing members (do not register to sell such equipment).


  • Only post on the thread if genuinely interested in the item(s).

    Do not post additional comments in relation to the item(s) such as 'another brand is better than this item's' or 'your item(s) is(are) overpriced'.


  • In the wording of the post, include :
    • location (most important !!!),
    • price,
    • picture of the item.



  • If the item(s) has/have been advertised elsewhere, please mention it in your post (you don't have to specifically highlight where-else this item has been advertised).


  • DO NOT use the "PM sent" type message ; the person you sent a PM to will be notified by email by the system.


  • "Bumping" the post to make it visible within the more recent posts is not allowed.


  • Update post once the item is sold.


  • Do not repost another topic for the same item if still for sale.

    If you have several items to sell, please open only 1 topic for them.


  • Please respond to queries by Private Message (PM) in a timely fashion.


  • If you get a bad name for not turning up or if you sell the products to someone else after agreement then you will be banned from selling on the forum.


  • Any posts found not to be in line with the above-mentioned rules will be deleted without notice.


    • Note to new registered users :

    New members will not be allowed to use the Forum for selling equipment unless :
    • they have established themselves over a period of four weeks,
    • presented themselves in the "Introduce Yourself" section of the forum and
    • made at least fifteen substantive contributions during that time.
    ANYONE CONTRAVENING THESE RULES WILL BE BANNED

    Note to new users :

    Please read the rules above.
    This forum is a discussion forum which facilitates contributing users to exchange/sell surplus fish/items.
    You need to have made 15 substantive posts before using this section (this excludes "Hi and welcome to the forum", "Great tank" ... ).

    Anyone contravening these rules is going to be banned without notice.

    Hi,

    The software has been changed to only allow users with 15 posts to the forum, to post to any section in Buy, Sell and Swap
