Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

well i only really have three other hobbies when time allows of course
1) Angling... yes i know fishy people do fishy stuff
2) Photography
3) golfing ( hell i get to play for free at work so why not)
this is where i work by the way
That would be much more imprssive if you said this is where I live
No problem on the Canon, there are plenty of photographers on here, including a couple of professionals. One thing I noticed about fish keepers, photography is a popular second hobby and an amazing percentage smoke! I am hoping to reduce that percentage soon.

Very impressive landscape from 2 months ago......someday I'd love to have the 'eye' to take pics like that. Landscape is my thing but not got any material in that league....yet!!
Limerick......I love that your pic is so 'natural'......
Anyone got an opinion on the eos40d?

The 40D is the camera that im using
I only have it a few months so I can’t tell you much about it & it’s my first good camera,
the reason I went for the 40D is its a top make and I decided if I bought a lesser camera I would probably change it after a while, its all down to the user there is a lot to learn and im only starting so I hope to get some good shots up here soon.

kom, I think you must be referring the DarRagh's landscape, sadly I have not posted many none fish pictures for some time. In fact I just had a quick check and of the 1995 photos I have on flickr, in the last 15 months I have only posted 9 that are not fish related one way or the other!!!

I really need to miss a few water changes and do something about that
I don't know much about the 40D particularly, but any of the Canon SLR range is good and it gives you access to the best selection of lenses available. (As long as there are no Nikon users reading this)

God yes, I could have added ebay too! Greatest invention ever

Just a pity my credit card gets on so well with PayPal but a shame I don't get on with the credit card .
Regarding the number of photographers, I have noticed that before, the other thing very common among fishkeepers that I have noticed is smoking! Not sure where that connection comes from.
Alot of you other hobbies would make great photo oppurtunities, although not for you when engaged in them!
Welcome to the forum.
Daragh
