Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Guys,

I'm looking at changing my car, thinking of changing to a 05 BMW 320d Sport Coupe.

I've heard the turbo mightn't be the best in them, and bushings give trouble.
Anyone have any insight in these?

thanks

I know, but I'd be dead if I had one ... always want to push things to the limit ... I would have to know how fast the bike would go :(

Dolf,

I've had two 320ci's and a 325ci over the years (00 / 03 / 05) fab car's. Never had any trouble with them. My current X5 3.0d wouldn't hold a candle to them! Would go back if I didn't need a 4x4 at the moment. The 3 series coupe lost some of it allure for me when Chris Bangle (BMW Chief Designer) got his hands on them to produce the current version.

The Photoshop edit is what they should have put into production

Service can be a little steep mind but fairly infrequently required. You should get one at a good price now too with car dealers desperate to sell. Is the version your thinking of the 320cd ??

Try and locate the M Sport Version. The extra's are worth it!

Kind regards

Seany

Never had the D always petrol. Turbo's no problem. Bushings maybe on some models. PAS/WB's not known to me an issue in my experience. If you still have worries, the BMW warranty will cover these items anyway as well as the dealers warranty. Best of luck with it.

i worked on a few of them never really to much hassle with them have heard of a few turbos going but not every car is the same, also depends how you drive the car you drive it hard you put more pressure on the turbo. make sure there is plenty of power when your test driving it and check the smoke from the exhaust on a rev also check the oil level

bushes its mainly rear bushes just check the tyre wear is even across the face of the tyre you'll also hear knocking noise and the back end will feel loose while driving and cornering..

would also agree with paying the extra for a true m sport verson the finish is much better. Its deffo a buyers market at the mo and some great deals to be had . All in all there are a super car..

one more thing listen to the inlet manafold a if you hear any rattles walk away the inlet maniflod can break up and go into the cyclinder. again not on every car..

hope this is of some help any more questions i'll try to help

best of luck.
