Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi all,

This shop has been shut for a few months now but there's a note on the door and the website saying re-opening shortly under new management, but it's been there for a few months now and no sign of any action.

Has anybody any ideas?

I heard a rumour that one of our sponsors might be taking over, but I don't want to rely on rumours.

Can anyone shed any light on this? It's the only decent shop that I can get to on a regular basis as I work in Wexford quite a lot and drive past all the time.

have you tried the Drinigh Garden Centre? (couple of miles outside Wexford Town on the Rosslare road- just before the turing to Kilmore Quay) they do pond, chiclids etc, their aquarium prices are better than anything in Dublin,

No, I haven't actually.

I haven't been in that place since it was built and didn't even realise that they had an aquatic section.

Will have a look in the next time I'm down.

So, nobody has any idea on Kilkenny Aquatics then?

Replied by Zoom (Zoom) on topic Re:Kilkenny Aquatics
As far as I know about Kilkenny Aquatics they sold off everything and opened up in New Ross which I heard they were shutting down receently , if they aren't shut down already. So if Kilkenny is opening back up I reckon it definetly will be under new management as the note said. Haven't heard anything about it.A friend of mine was dealing with the shop in New Ross and never heard anything from them about opening back up the Kilkenny shop or who would be.

Hi,

Kilkenny has been closed for months, yes a sign on door but now getting faded, I did drop down to drinagh ans was surprised that the fish area is quite big and a good few well fish not the normal green mist with a sick guppy looking out of glass.

So we have in waterford/wexford Mc Giures and Drinagh, both shops not to bad and even do marine:laugh:

Here's Drinagh as of today 1 km from rosslare roundabout
