Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Did anyone get anything fishy or interesting?

as you know I went LFS hoping from Sat to Sun looking for clown loaches and corys. I got some pepper from AV. I managed to bump into Daragh, Darren(platy) and JohnH at the AV brittas. The CLs there were a bit too small though but the stock was huge! I went to Longmile next- I got me a julii but they don't have any CLs at the moment. then off i went to Seahorse and got the some nice size CLs. Went home happy with the trips I made

Yeah its one of those days for sure. Spent the morning cleaning the filters and in the freshwater setups. Trying to put on paper the plan for the aquascape in the marine system Im setting up but have a bit of a hangover so its not going very well. Will feed the Oscar soon and probably chill and watch a movie or something. If the wallet wasnt so light from equiping the new salty setup I would probably be on the razz :) .

Not a sniff of chocolate here.
My day is been spent cleaning after a leaking filter the other evening.
But this dose give me a chance to clear some of the clutter that builds up like bags of grave, sand, wood, filter media and other bits and pieces not in use at the moment. Off to the shed they go.

On my AV trip that ian mentioned I bought 4 rainbow crabs, I don't know why, I really didn't want crabs, but home they came. Haven't found much info on them yet, will have to do a bit more googling....

That would be great, I don't remember it, but I don't always buy it. They seem to manage to feature on teh fron cover what I am interested in at teh time, only to find when you get home a 1 page article (after you exclude the photos) with less information than you had already

There's hope for you yet. Ian doesn't have any left now, apart from land hermits, but I am sure there are a few places around town that you could pick them up ;-)

I checked PFK and TFH. Believe it or not they covered fiddlers, Haribos, Tangerine's, vampire and loads of marine crabs. No rainbow crabs.

One thing that dose get mentioned for feeding crabs is pellets. It is best avoided. But i think this is a water quality thing and not crab health.
Feeding dead leaves is recommended for some of the crabs.

2 crabs (tim & dave) walk in to a bar. After drinking Guinness for the evening tim gets up and heads for the door.
The barman noticed he was walking straight and not sideways like crabs normally do. So he asks dave what wrong with tim? he's walking funny.
Dave replies, he always walks like that when he's drunk.

I know, i know. I couldn't think of a good one.

Hopefully this will save your embarrassment D, here's one for ya.

Two lobsters were sunbathing on the beach.
The girl lobster suggested that the boy lobster go get them an ice cream cone.

Having purchased two cones, Mr Lobster made his way back to the beach, deciding on the way to eat his ice cream. By the time he had finished the ice cream, he realized that his girlfriend's had started to melt all down his claw, so he licked it up and ended up eating it too.

When he arrived back at the beach Ms Lobster exclaimed "Where's my ice cream cone?

"Well", he said. "I decided to eat mine, then yours melted so I ate that too."

She was incensed and cried "You shellfish bastard!!"

Kev,

And YES I Googled it!

I was well behaved, visited 3 shops and all I bought was a condensation tray and some jmc catfish pellets(then got home and found a full tub).I was extremely close to buying half a dozen of the nicest yellow tail congo tetras I've seen in a shop, and at half the usual price, until I spotted white spot in the same system. Was gutted.Mind you,I had bought a good bit of stuff on Wednesday, inc fish.

Oh,and the only egg I had was the ones I got in the Orchard garden centre.

always on the lookout for interesting corys.pm me if you know off any!
