Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin
another exciting day at Aquatic Village

AAh yes it's so good to be poor yet alive. This country is great did I ever tell you that? Recession pestilence famine and The people of the mist.....Jesus I feel blessed to be surrounded by people that really make u want to reach out and give them a big hug....that’s the equivalent of a fish reaching out and hugging a protozoan or a koi embracing a fluke or ....need I go on...
Well anyways yesterday a couple of half grown up people of the mist tried to rob one of our Dragon water features up in Brittas. Quinner walked into the yard as they were wrestling with it. Their Da or head person of the mist or source of everyone’s DNA regardless of stature waited outside in a custom built white people of the mists van with a different reg on the back to the front.... something the garda would never cop.......unless there tax was out enough to draw irate attention.
Well Quinner runs them.....he tracked them by their foul smell or it could been that new fragrance ‘eau du people of the mist' they are all raving about....he also called the guards and fair play to them(I’m actually a big fan of the guards they do a great job and i mean that)anyway crossed wires somewhere along the line brought 4 armed response units to Quinner aid......wow says I ...it took em 5 minutes to arrive from Tallaght.....do u know that this is the second time we have had armed response??? And every time it happens we get the guards to buy a tank.....now that’s how to make a sale ladies and gentlemen.....
Cheers
IAn

dont paint all with the same brushMore is the pity indeed. If you were accused of being a racist for using 'pikey', it was probably by annoying do-gooders, who have clearly never worked in retail in Tallaght. My shop is hit every few days by shoplifters and every person, bar one, that I have caught are pikeys. And trust me, that's quite a few. I happily differtiate these from the travelling community that don't act this way, but reckon if someone is trying to steal from your livlihood, you can call them whatever you want. Pikey is probably the most polite I have ever used.
Fair play to the Garda for a quick response.

Accused of Racism? thats pretty stupid really..The Residents association in our housing estate had a meeting recently to address the number of Roma Gypsies & Irish travellers getting social housing in the area..some people were playing the race card..when it's not rascist in anyway. just discrimiation!
jaysus... one week of fine gael government and the Blueshirts are back with a vengeance it seems.

Never said it was. There's a fine history of it in our country from our law makers.
