Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I have to admit a huge degree of disappointment with this Competition, for the first time ever we had more entries than we had votes!

Anyway, the photo with the most votes was #10 - so congratulations go to Snaphappy for his excellent Cichlid picture.

Here are the next nine-placed pictures:

joint second #12 (Sebcity), #19 (Zabol001)
fourth #25
joint fifth #20 (M4r10), #22Neriusad, #30 (Des)
eighth #3 (Blade)
ninth #32 (MichaelO)
tenth #13 (Bonzo)

As previously mentioned, Aquaworld are generously giving a plant voucher for places 2-10, so once everything's 'to hand' I'll send the final list of winners' names to them and then they'll be able to organise collection from them

It's now 2.50 am and I'm pretty tired so if you could send me a PM in the morning identifying yourself to me that will save me having to cross-reference the pictures against the entries tonight and allow me to get to bed!

Don't forget that those generous chaps at Aquaworld - as well as sponsoring prizes down to tenth place - are giving a 'goodie bag' to everyone who submitted entries this time...pity there wasn't a prize for everyone who sent in their votes - we might have had more votes!!!

Anyway Sean (Blue Ram) is taking back the reins for future photo competitions so perhaps he'll get a bit more co-operation from voters now he's back.

OK, I need a bit of help here.
Could everyone (other than the winners already listed above) please send me a PM telling me your entry number and email address.
This will help me immensely, so many thanks in advance.

One last reminder.
Anyone who hasn't responded to this will not be added to the list to be forwarded to Aquaworld in order for them to organise the 'goodie-bags' as offered to everyone who submitted an entry into the Christmas Competition.
Thanks to all those who have sent me the requested details.
I'll be sending the list over to them this evening.
