Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

That's the lot for September.

Right, we'll go with the same voting as last time,
Vote 'A' 3 points
Vote 'B' 2 points
and (strangely enough)
Vote 'C' 1 point.

A couple of reminders, you may not vote for your own entry with any of your three votes and you may only make one entry of three votes.

ALL Forum members are invited to cast in this ballot.

Please send your votes (remembering that 'A' gets 3 points, 'B' 2 points and 'C' 1 point)

to:

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. along with your Forum user-name (for verification).

As it is now October 1 we will leave the voting open until midnight on Sunday next (October 6).

I think that's everything except (another) reminder that 'A' gets the highest vote while 'C' gets the lowest.

Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

John
Oh yes, one other thing - please add your Forum user name to your vote, it gets a bit confusing for a poor old lad like myself if I don't know who is voting for which.

Three days and only five lots of votes!
I think the whole process needs a re-think (but that's for the future).

Voting is quite simple (it must be - even I can manage it) so, please, can we have votes from other than the 'usual suspects'?

The (lack of) response is hardly encouraging for the Sponsor involved - and even less so when it comes to my asking others for future donations.

Please vote.

Any more for any more?

Voting deadline is midnight tonight and it would be nice to at least have as many votes cast as entries received.

Well, that's the first time this has happened since I have been running the Photo Competition - we have a bit of an impasse.
#7 and #9 have exactly the same amount of points scored. So - can I please be a pain in the nether region and (very nicely) ask all of you who voted previously to please re-vote for one only of these two entries #7 or #9.
I'll leave this open until midnight tonight and hopefully we'll have a winner by then.

Quite obviously if your entry was #7 or #9 you wouldn't be able to vote for your own entry and it would be quite understandable under the circumstances that you don't vote of your opponent's entry (now we're down to the proverbial 'two-horse-race').

But to everyone else who voted in this round I would crave your indulgence to just cast a second vote for one of these two.

Once we have a definitive outright winner we'll be able to start concentrating on October's round (while there are still some days left in the month).

Votes, please, for either #7 or #9 to the competition address:

by midnight tonight (Monday).
