Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Time to vote (again).

Here are October's entries and an unashamed (but slightly modified to take in the different dates) 'copy-and-paste' of last month's request for votes:

Entry #1

Spot the new baby appearing!

Entry #2:

Entry #3:

Entry #4:

Entry #5:

Entry #6:

Entry #7:

Entry #8:

Entry #9:

Entry #10:

Entry #11:

Entry #12:

Entry #13:

Entry #14:

Entry #15:

Entry #16:

Entry #17:

That's the lot for October.

Right, we'll go with the same voting as last time (again!),
Vote 'A' 3 points
Vote 'B' 2 points
and (strangely enough)
Vote 'C' 1 point.

A couple of reminders, you may not vote for your own entry with any of your three votes and you may only make one entry of three votes.

ALL Forum members are invited to cast in this ballot.

Please send your votes (remembering that 'A' gets 3 points, 'B' 2 points and 'C' 1 point)

to:

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. along with your Forum user-name (for verification).

As it is now November 1 we will leave the voting open until midnight on Wednesday next (November 6).

I think that's everything except (another) reminder that 'A' gets the highest vote while 'C' gets the lowest.

Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

John
Oh yes, one other thing - please add your Forum user name to your vote, it gets a bit confusing for a poor old lad like myself if I don't know who is voting for which.

While hating to be sounding like the proverbial 'stuck' record (remember those?) it is now only less than three days to get your vote in - thanks to the six people who have voted so far, but we really do need a goodly amount of votes to make the competition a fair one.

And the winners are:

First place - #1
Second place - #6

Then the following were taken by:

Joint third - #4 & #7
Joint fifth - #9 & #11, with the rest of us bringing up the rear.
I'll get the home page updated in the morning.

Well done to all contestants - thanks a bunch for taking time to send in your entries and thank, too, to the sixteen members who took the trouble to cast their votes.

I expect the prize donor will be in touch with first and second-placed entrants in due course to discuss your prizes.

Thanks again.

Sorry everyone, thanks to Scnappsmom for pointing out my error of last night.

The winner is Ket with pic #1,
Second is Blade with 6
Joint third next: pic 4 was from Homer, 7 from PaulV
and joint fifth were Melander, #9 and #11 Louis.
Well done to you (and to the others as well - yes, even me - my entry actually received some votes this round - I must be getting better!)(or perhaps - most likely - more lucky).
