Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

As there were only four entries in the Discus Round we'll deal with those first:

D1:

D2

D3

D4:

And now - here are the Non-Discus entries:

O-1

O-2:

O-3

O-4:

O-5

O-6:

O-7:

O-8

O-9:

O-10:

O-11:

O-12

O-13

So that's it - usual rules apply.
Please cast your votes 1-2-3 in that order (1 for first, etc etc) but please vote in each section - in other words 1-2-3 in the Discus Section and 1-2-3 in the Non-Discus section.
As usual you aren't allowed to vote for your own entry.
Please send your votes to the Competition address:

PLEASE add your Forum user-name, it really does help.
To avoid prolonging the agony votes will close at midnight on Wednesday September 3.
So, let voting commence.
Oh yes - again thanks to the members for generously donating prizes for this round - any donations for September gratefully received.

A polite reminder that voting ends tomorrow at midnight.
Thanks go to the eight members who have voted so far but it's hardly representative of the amount of active members - even logged on right now there are 24 members* - voting isn't at all difficult, it can't be - even I can manage it.
Please vote, it really makes the effort of setting these rounds up worth while.

I have received a PM from Darkslice who tells me that he could not see the images posted above.
They are certainly appearing on my computer - did anyone else have any problems in this respect?

one or two took AGES to appear. I first thought you had forgotten to post all the pictures, and then realised that you had numbered them and they appeared eventually.

On my laptop here they're appearing pretty-well instantaneously - they shouldn't really be taking ages as all the images are scaled down to recommended file size before being posted.
I understand some of the problems are being experienced by people using their phones to access the Forum.
I cannot comment upon this aspect as my phone works pretty well for text messages (as long as I disable the predictive text) but is far too ancient to be able to use for web use (I know I've used this before, but it's very appropriate here, my 'smart' phone is an 'ignorant' version!).
