Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Thanks to Home Aquariums, Galway - and to Jaro - their generosity gives us two Fluval Chi tanks for the first and second prizes this round.

Here is the content of Jaro's PM, sent last month:

"Hi John.
I have a fluval CHI 19L which a would like to donate.
It's my own tank which I don't use anymore.
It has the filter but the LED light is not working.
I will throw in the gravel and heater as well (if someone wants to use it as a tropical)
Jaro"

On top of this kind donation, Home Aquariums, Galway have chipped in (bad choice of word there where tanks are concerned - sorry) with a brand new Fluval Chi 19l tank so now we shall make the new one first prize and Jaro's used one will become the runner-up prize.

A couple of worthwhile prizes, I'm sure you'll agree.

No theme has been stipulated for this round so we'll make it 'unthemed' (apart from the usual condition that the entry is Fish, or Fish-related).
It needs mentioning that (and this should go without being said, really) the entries must be the original work of the entrant and also that they have not appeared either here - or anywhere else, for that matter before.
The last round's experiment of allowing up to three entries per competitor will be extended to this round again and, one last thing (for the moment, at least) each entry must be accompanied by the Forum-member's user-name (very important as it really does help yours truly).

Please - as ever - send your entries to the Forum's competition email address:
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
OPEN FOR ENTRIES AS OF NOW.

As has become the tradition with these rounds the thread will be locked once the first entry is posted.

John
ps (I almost forgot) Home Aquariums and Jaro will - being the donors of this round's prizes - be asked to adjudicate and pick the winner at the end of the round.
