Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

A round for June...

A quick 'advance' here.
After we gave the Competition a short hiatus for May, here's advance warning that June's Round will be starting on (surprisingly) June 1.
No need to start sending submissions yet, this is just a little 'prompt' for those of you who enjoy these Comps to get your lenses cleaned and batteries charged in readiness.
As ever, there will be no topic set for entries so everything Fish/Fish related is acceptable.
Watch out for a more comprehensive announcement at the start of the month.

OK then folks (or at least those of you who enjoy this aspect of the Forum).
June Round starts today.
We have two confirmed donations so far as prizes, with the hope that Daniel returns from his holiday and will still be offering his Shrimp tank to bring the total up to three.
Of course, any further donations would be gratefully accepted.

As mentioned, there is no set topic again this month but the other usual 'Terms and Conditions' applying as usual.
Just one slight difference for June is that we will experiment slightly and take on Jonlate's suggestion that we add a title for each entry.
Please, though, don't add the title to the image, but add it in the email text. This is because Photobucket seems to not like text and rejects it but I can always add the titles once the images upload here.
So, up to three entries - Fish-or-Fish-Related, please rember to add your Forum user-name and send them to:
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
I'll be back anon with details of the donated prizes.
Please check the Competition T&Cs in the post at the start of the Competitions' category and it only remains for me to thank in advance the entrants, prize donors.

Oh yes - there is no need to resize your entries as the kind folks at Photobucket do that for us.
One last thing - this Round stays open until Midnight June 30.

Good luck all, or those of you who enter.

As we're almost half way through the month here is a list of prizes for this round.
(In no particular order).
Q_Comets has kindly put his third-placed prize from the April round back up as a prize for June,

Robert has generously donated a full 250 mil unopened bottle of Easy Care Profto fertiliser plus a second opened bottle which is 90% full.

And our good friend (and Competition prize benefactor) Ger310 has offered another bag of 50 grade B 5" Catappa leaves (wouldn't mind them myself).

Dan has now returned from his extended holiday and is happy to offer again the small Shrimp tank set-up which we had to hold back on for April's prize.

I hope this might trigger some entry activity before the end of the month.

Entry #02:
I thought Angels were white, so what am I?

Nice to get the (proverbial) ball rolling.

As with tradition of these rounds the thread will be locked now (once entries are posted) but will be unlocked for comments once the entries are completed.

Sorry about this, after reappearing earlier in the month Dan seems to have gone back into hiding so the proffered Shrimp tank may not now be available as a prize this month.
I do hope no-one is too disappointed, but since most of us only enter these rounds for a bit of fun here's hoping the possible withdrawal of this tank doesn't come as too much of a let down.

Oh dear, I made a boo-boo, for some strange reason I had it in my mind that tonight (Wednesday) was June 30 - when actually it was only June 29!
So, the deadline is actually tomorrow (Thursday) night - another day to submit some more entries (well, you never know...).
