Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

The Betta cube is the cutest little thing I've seen, I had doubts about the Edge and that worked out a treat, the Betta Cube has a great little Filter and the Light, while it won't have you running for a high factor Sunblock, it will support anubias , a bit of moss and a couple of small fish like Rasbora maculata, chillies etc and a few Shrimp.

throw the double bed out, get a single bed and put the tank in the bedroom, if the wife loves you she wont mind sleeping on the couch, or if she's like my girlfriend you will be sleeping on the couch for even suggesting such an idea

The make is "Betta", but I would think they are big enough for a betta, at least it is better than an unfiltered jar. However what I think these are ideal for is a small group of shrimp. They are lovely little tanks, I won one at the show for best invert and then won another in the raffle :-)

Looking forward to setting them up over the weekend.

Water changes can be done with a cup - heaven.

Just to clear up, Betta is the brand of tank. It is not actually designed for housing Betta splendens or other. Although you can't stop anyone putting fighters in them.
They are designed for shrimps and smaller fish such as the ones Kev mentioned above.
Rafael Joaquin, where are you based? I might be able to point you towards a shop near you that has them.
I anyone has any questions about them they are welcome to post here and I'll do my best! ;)

Kev.

I don't think I will be aquascaping it too much, a bit of bogwood and a bit of moss and the job is oxo.

I certainly wouldn't have the patience for that little nano you linked, it is amazing!

Daragh

PS. Can't believe I just wrote that, I don't even know where I heard OXO!

The Orchard in Celbridge or Purrrfect Pets are probably the two shops closest to you with them in stock.
They are however in a fair few shops around Dublin.
