Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Joined the forum after I bought a tank of tim( frontosa)
An absolute gent,
So yeah for my first marine tank it's going to be 7 foot

The tank needs a good chunk of work to get it to display standards but sure that's the fun of it all!
I'll stick up pictures as I go along going to be a long run as I'm always working and never get a moment but I plan to start moving corals and fish in in January
Going to be wrecking everyone's heads over the next while!
Thanks a mil for reading
Andy

Breeding saltwater fishes are a little bit more difficult than tropicals; heard and seen clownfishes and cardinals; but tangs are rly difficult; i asked and was told for one we would need lots of water like 200-300 gallons; then just few pairs(again saltwater sexing is difficult) of a particular species in the tang with a as natural as possible environment and near perfect water conditions...at this stage i kinda lost concentration...this is w/o going on to talk about removal of the babies; another rdy saltwater tank with same water parameters and feeding....

BUt still the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Do post some pics when you can.
Regards;
andrew

I'm no stranger to keeping tropical animals
This is my vivarium I've 3 beardies in there!
Back to fish this is my koi angel, excuse the water I just shifted the sand,
Started to clean the old silicon from the tank
Half way through on this side no where to the standards I want but I'll get there
The misses really ain't happy that I've taken over the back room and conservatory as a DIY room but she's been a gem! So excuse the mess
This is where the tank is going( that's a 42" tv as a size guide)
Pick up some doors for the unit
Here's my Mtb to show the size
Hope to have all silicon removed by Monday as my shipment of it should arrive then
Will post up more pics as I progress

Welcome aboard. Thats an impressive tank you have there. As far as breeding Tangs goes, Im pretty certain its ever been achieved in the home aquaruim. They breed in large groups in the wild and so a massive system would be required to even attempt it. What do you plan to do with this setup? Reef or FOWLR?
Jay
Reef tank, hmm ah well would be nice to breed them,
Got home to a package
Best get cracking!
