Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi all, first post on any fish forum. I've been keeping tropicals for what must be 6 years now, started out with a small 60 litre and about three years ago stepped up to my current Jewel Vision 180 along with a second small 20 litre nano tank that I picked up off Adverts.ie
The 180l tanks inhabitants:
1x XL Angel (male)
1x Siamese Fighter (male)
1x Bristlenose catfish
2x Amano shrimp
8x Cardinal tetras
5x Glow light tetras
3x Siamese Algae Eaters
1x Harlequin Rasbora
8x Rasbora (exact breed unknown)
20 litre nano tank has:
5x Copper Rasbora
3x Celestial Pearl Danio
2x Siamese Algae eater.
So from the above menu you'll have noticed that the range of fish I have are massive. This is about the 4th generation of the main tank. Ive gone through trying redfin sharks, a small shoal of Kribensis (think I had 12 in my tank at one stage). Fish have been either given away or left back into the aquarium shop for rehoming.
I've tried the planted tank and crashed on that on two occasions thanks mostly to the kribs that just nipped or up rooted them for sport it would seem. Current tank is doing well have never used CO2 in the picture I cut it right back as was having serious problems with thread alagae, the large background Vasillis Americana has been cut right back to remove the algae was before covering the surface water of the tank leaves must have been 4 plus feet in length. Will soon be back at that stage thanks to daily liquid fertilisation and substrate.
Still not happy with the layout so I may re-org the layout, seeing far to may tanks on youtube and other place that I'd like to copy. Any suggestions lads or even links to your own tank (by all means brag) appreciated.

Hey Sean, the guy that was selling it on adverts picked it up in Germany or had it shipped not sure. It's a Dennerle Nano 20 litre, has curved front corners on the glass which makes viewing angles great.

Welcome along, nice tanks there mate
You know you're addicted to fishkeeping when...you spend €200 to accomodate a €5 fish.
