Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Over due hello !!

Hey all, I've been a member for a while now and been keeping fish for about 6 years or so, I've had neons to pacus and oscars to rtc ! At the moment I have a paroon shark, onpac, fontosa, male & female convicts, coreys, common pleco and x-ray fish. I know...it's a very weird and dangerous mix but they have all been together for 3 weeks now and are all great friends lol
I've had iredecent and paroon sharks before and know the hunger they have but my one seems to be quite the community shark !
I have them in a jewel 180 at the moment but I'm going to be upgrading agin soon, I'm gonna be in the market for a 400l tank soon.
So anyway, that's my story, chat to yous all soon hope I can be of some help here.
Cheers
Phily

Edit : sorry its a penn plax tank I have lol, I've been looking at jewel tanks, have to get dimensions and capacity but I think it's a 180l

I know but I am thinking of moving on the smaller fish including the convicts and just keep the pleco, fontosa, onpac and paroon
I am very surprised at how placid the paroon has been, he hasn't shown any interest in any of the other fish and when ever food goes in he's flyin round the tank for it as if he hasn't fed in weeks !!

even if you keep just the 4 fish in a 400ltr tank imo its still way to small and ur paroon is only a baby when he gets bigger he will eat everything that fits into his mouth, i love this fish its cool was offered one few mts back for free from a (shop) he was about 9" but imo he would need a huge tank on his own so i said no thanks

Ok had a good think about it and I've decided to keep the paroon, onpac and pleco so I will put a post in the for sale section for anyone interested in a male and female convict, 6 x-ray fish, 4 skunk Corey all purchased from seahorse and I also have a fontosa purchased from aquatic village.
