Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Does seem to be a lot of gentlemen on this forum, so time for a little equality of the sexes?? My name is Catherine Murphy and I love my fish.
This forum has been recommended to me by a friend and colleague Des. So I'm looking forward to diving right in (pardon the pun)
While I only have the space in my house for one tank, I am proud of it. Picture attached below if I can make this work. It's a 4ft Juwel Vision 260.
There is a very nice back to nature moulded background in it, and I have tried to set it up as an Amazon biotope, although I confess I am not totally strict about the details. I put in what I like within reason. Current inhabitants include Angels, rummy nose, a few smaller discus, and a selection of tetras.
Like my friends Des and Ricky I also work for Maxizoo, and with a passion for fish I am often found up to my elbows in the fish house. One of the perks of the job is the many special and beautiful fish that come in to the tanks. At the moment the nicest
fish we have are probably the African Butterfly fish and two fabulous large discus.
I have practically had to tie my hands together to stop myself taking them home. looking forward to lots of fun and information on this forum.
Catherine M.

I like your use of the wood in you tank.
Some nice pieces used to great effect.
Great that you are also working at something you love doing.

Very good of you to get some pics up on your first post..........and great to see an African Butterfly fish fan.
It is very nice to call me and the other ladies (yeah.....98.3% here are little Devas

When I type on here, I only half-man.....as I'm also typing on behalf of my other half who is also fish-keeper.
As you're in MaxiZoo circles, then you could also try to get Emma (from Tallagh maxizoo) to join (she's also a great photographer as well).
Chat soon in other parts of the forum.
