Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hello everybody!!!

My name is Rasa and I'm new in this forum but not so new in a water world ;) . I love to listen for the water flow and watch the fish living... But the main reason to get a fish tank was my child - he was born with a disability ,his name is Martin and he is 10 years old now. Every time we were going to the pet shop I could leave him near a fish tank and find him there hours later :) . We decided to get one for Martins birthday and I have to say it was the best birthday present ever! So its freshwater tank with two iridescent sharks in it also 11 neon tetras, 5 Chinese algae eaters. There was more fish but they all died recently because of unfair retailer... Very sorry for Martin because he keeps asking why the fish died and I have to find the clever answers to hurt him less as I can...

I'm here now and hope to enjoy by watching your fabulous fish tanks and read some more new information. In the end I would like to urge you all- please, check the expiry date on every item you purchasing to avoid the cruel situation like I had. Even if it is a merchant which you trust five years. PLEASE !

Rasa and Martin,
You're most welcome here.
It's very heartening to read Martin's story - it is truly amazing how Fish can interest young people.
What a great Dad Mom you are to be buying him a tank of his own.
If you ever need any advice please don't hesitate to ask, we will do our best to advise you as best we can.

John

Welcome rasa, lovely intro i must add. Im glad you and your son can share your love for the hobbie here with us on the forum. Would love to see some photos of the tank if you have any, mail me if you have any queries as of how to upload them, i found it tricky at the start but you might be a whizz B)

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome :) !!! Have to correct John slightly- I am Martins mom. Rasa is a female name but i also understand that its hard to know looking at name only  . Sean was right- can't find how to upload my pictures   so if someone could advice me how to do this I will be very grateful ;)
