Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi guys,
my name is Mirko, I'm Italian but I live in Dublin since 2006.
I had freshwater tanks for 4 years and at the beginning of this month I decided to set up a small reef tank.
So...here I am with a lovely Juwel 125 sitting in my living room and a lot to learn.

The other tanks are a 60l (2 pelvicachromis taeniatus, 2 rams, 5 corys and a pleco) and a 26l (6 guppies).
Plus I have a tamed lovebird and 2 ferrets.
hope to share info with you guys.
Ciao
Mirko

Hey Mirko,
Welcome to the forum. I would love a small reef setup myself but will leave it for a few years, I think.
If you can get a few pictures of your tanks uploaded, we'd all love to see them.
I use to keep ferrets for hunting myself years ago, mad little things.
look forward to sharing info....
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the welcome.
I will post some pictures soon.
it's pretty empty at the moment, few ermit crabs, few sanils, a lysmata and a mushroom coral.
Ciao

well thank you.
yeah I noticed that here is a friendly enviroment and everyone is willing to help.
that's something that disgracefully is quite hard to find on Italian forums.
there are different sects (that i call the bare bottom congregation, the pure berliner church and the deep sand bed fraternity) and they are running an intifada against each other.

of course I'm exagerating... but not too much.
I'm goin' to add some of the picture I made a couple of months ago of my two fresh tanks.
is it ok to link to my picture on flickr? there's any restrinction in terms of size?
Ciao
Mirko

Hi Mirko,
Pictures are always welcome. There is a size restriction if you try to upload a picture directly on this site but there is no size restriction for linking with any picture hosting websites as it is just a link.
There is a sticky in the photograph section which shows how to link to pictures on a post.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Valerie
