Hello, new to this site

Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi I'm Joe, I live just outside Carrick on Shannon. I keep 120 liter fresh water, tropical community tank. Stock list is as follows;
2 Angle fish
3 Swordtails (1 male 2 female)
1 Odessa barb
2 Rosy barbs
2 Bala sharks
2 Bolivian rams
1 Cory
1 Bamboo shrimp/Rock shrimp
1 Siamese alge eater
6 Neon tetra.
I know this is a big stock list for a 120 liter tank but most of the fish are juveniles (see pics)and I am in the process of building a 290 liter tank that should be up and running within the next 6months.
Iv had my share of problems and diseases such as ick and anchor worm but thanks to forums like this, the fish and i got threw and all is well. Looking forward to discussion on this site

You're very welcome Joe,
Your tank pictures show you have a nice stock of Fish - are you planning to run the proposed 290 as well as the 120?
If so, I'd suggest we have another 'convert' - well on the way to being snared for life!!!

Cheers Dar, I have all ready for my build except for the glass which is the most expensive and being on the dole at the min, its hard to save. Dimensions for new tank are 42" long by 22" wide by 24" high and glass is 10mm thick. Over all weight when filled is gonna be close to 60 stone! Iv built the cabinet to take this (its the one I'm using for my running tank at the moment)
I will be sure to take step by step photos during the build for any one mad enough to take on a project like this ha ha. I will also be making a custom lid with built in lighting and i will take photos of this too.
Thanks again for the welcom.....Joe.

Thanks John, The new tank is to accommodate by bala sharks and angel fish so i will be transferring my current stock into it. I was intending just to sell my 120l tank as i don't really have the space to set it up any where else. I would love to have it as a heavily planted nano set up but i think I'm dreaming ha ha.
I think i am snared for life already! Iv been keeping fish for a year now and all I want is more more more!!!
I started off with a 60l tank i found in the shed that has now being moved back into the shed and is set up as a hospital tank. No sick fish at the min but it has being invaluable in the past and i would recommend everyone to have one on stand by!
Thanks again for the welcome.Joe
