Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hey guys,
I've been stalking the forums for a while - so I decided to sign up.
I've kept fish for about 3 and a half years when my bird got me 2 gold fish (which i named gold and fish) who moved from their bowl to a 20 liter tank - They didn't know what to do with themselves.
When I moved moved house about 2 and a half years ago, I purchased a lovely Trigon 190 along and looked after loads of different fish from Bala's to angels to discus to guormis to plecos, to barbs, to snails (oh the snails....1 snail managed to turn into 57 before i spotted them!) to harlequins and so on, and so on.
Then I got redundancy and disappeared off around the world where I did my Open water Padi in Koh Tao, followed by more diving in Ilha Grande. When I came back I set up a discus tank, and 2 of my discus paired up and had a couple of goes at having babies. On one occasion (while i was off work and monitoring them!) the eggs hatched into tadpole like things, and i reckon (from reading a lot online) were about a day off being free swimming. But alas something got them!
Here they all are having a bit of banter in the tank! Video
But anyway, I just j=keep thinking about my diving - i loved it so much, so I've now decided to start a reef tank.
I need to offload my tank and fishies, but hopefully it wont take long and I can start the new tank process in the next couple of weeks.
Anyhow - looking forward to chatting to you all soon on the forum!
All the best,
Claw

Welcome Claw! Where on Koh Tao did you stay? Tanote Bay was the most beautiful place I have ever seen, I would happily live out the rest of my life in one of the huts there!
